The Forensic Autism Service (FAS) is a new service that started in April 2022.
Aim: To help autistic adults who have significant risk behaviours to others or themselves.
We will work with you if you:
- Have a diagnosis of Autism
- Are ages 16 and over
You may have been in trouble with police such as:
- Risk of violence
- Arson
- Sexual offences
- Criminal damage
- Harassment
We will work closely with you and your family and carers.
We will work with other services involved in your care, including:
- Mental health teams
- Social care teams
- Hospital teams
- Housing
- Police, Probation etc.
- Nurse practitioners
- Therapists including occupational therapists and speech and language therapist
- Psychiatrist
- Psychologist
- Social worker
- Support workers
You will have a lead nurse who will work with you and the team to create risk assessments and care plans
We will agree goals to help you achieve your goals and reduce your risk
This may include support work and specific interventions such as:
- Help to understand
- feelings and relationships
- Support to get a job
- Family support
- Individual therapy
