Lancashire Community Transport
We understand that transport can prevent you from accessing many of the groups and services that are available in the community. The Dial-a-ride and Community Cars services are for people who may not be able to access public transport. If you are interested in attending a gym, exercise group or social event, Lancashire Community Transport may be able to support you.
The following information includes a selection of online and face to face exercise and activity groups within Preston and Chorley:
Online
- We are Undefeatable - a useful website with a range of information to support you to introduce exercise and activity into your routine.
- NHS Fitness Studio - 23 instructor led exercise videos covering; pilates, yoga, aerobic, strength and resistance. Each video ranges for 10 – 45 minutes long. Each exercise session has been developed following the recommended guidelines for weekly physical activity.
- Pilates and Yoga – includes exercises for beginners, back pain and arthritis.
- Aerobic exercises – includes videos for beginners.

- ESCAPE Pain Online - ESCAPE pain is free resource produced in the NHS by the Health Innovation Network and Salaso Solution Ltd. It is a web-based version of the ESCAPE-pain app. It is freely available to anyone but it is particularly useful for people who are unable to attend a face to face class. Structured education and exercise programme of 12 sessions over six weeks. There are two compulsory sessions per week and they are a combination of education and exercise. You can acess this on a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
- Elevate Physiotherapy - Online Physiotherapist led Pilates. First class free and delivered on Zoom. Classes are recorded and will be available for 7 days.
Cost: From £4.50 per class based on 2 classes per week.
Groups in Preston
- S.M.I.L.E - Self-help support group for people living with persistent pain. They hold weekly meetings on a Wednesday 9:30am to 12pm which offer the opportunity to engage in activities, exercise, social events or time to just sit and chat with others. - Mandala Preston - Mandala Yoga and Wellbeing – Classes include; SoundBath meditation, arts, crafts, chill-outs, bollywood dance and drum for joy.7

- Pure Gym – Offers various classes, memberships and access to a personal trainer. Classes include; Stretch Tuesday 7:15am and Fridays 6:15pm, Wellness Workshop Wednesday 11am and 2pm, mobility and flexibility tuesday 8pm, circuit classes (high energy and fast paced) several times per week. - Gym Works - Offers various classes, memberships and access to a personal trainer. - West View Better Health Leisure Centre - Offer a variety of swimming classes including a women only swimming group.
- Fulwood Leisure Centre - Six lane swimming pool offering sessions for all ages and abilities.

- Chorley Leisure Centre - Multicentre membership which includes gym, swimming and classes across all the below venues.

Weight management
- FIT Fans and Weight Management Provision - A free 12 week programme delivered at Deepdale with various classroom workshops including; nutritional and exercise advice and exercise sessions. Programme is open to men and women aged 35 – 65 with a BMI over 28, for men who have a waist over 38 inches and women with a waist of more than 31 inches. Also offer a wide range of tailored weight management services for adults of all ages including services in community centres such as; Sahara Women’s Centre in Fishwick and the Guild Lodge Medium Secure Mental Health Unit in Goosnargh.
