The Team provides care, support and treatment to adults and children in Lancashire who are at risk of or are diagnosed with Tuberculosis (TB) or Viral Hepatitis.

The TB services are available to support individuals who reside in the North, Central and West areas of Lancashire.

The dedicated team provide control, prevention and treatment of TB by:

  • Supporting those who have been diagnosed with TB

  • Coordinating TB treatment by working in partnership with secondary care

  • Identifying and screening TB contacts that meet the specified criteria

  • Screening new entrants and long stay visitors that originate from high risk countries

  • Administering BCG vaccinations to eligible individuals

  • Raising awareness of TB within the local communities and to the wider public health sector

The TB service work in collaboration with various health care providers such as physicians, consultants, paediatricians, GPs, practice nurses, midwifes, health visitors, school nurses, HM Prison Service, Public Health England and other third sector organisations in order to support their patients.

The Viral Hepatitis service supports individuals who reside in Central and West Lancashire and have been diagnosed with viral hepatitis.

The staff team provide a high quality and multi-disciplinary approach which incorporates:

  • Screening individuals who are at risk of viral hepatitis

  • Raising awareness of viral hepatitis within the local community and to the wider public health sector

  • Administering Hepatitis B vaccinations to those who meet the specified criteria

  • Providing advice and support to individuals that have been diagnosed with viral hepatitis and liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team to co-ordinate treatment/care

The viral hepatitis service work in collaboration with physicians, consultants, pediatricians, antenatal care, midwifes, health visitors, GPs and practice nurses, in order to support patients.
