From Thursday 1 May 2025, long COVID services in Lancashire and South Cumbria will no longer be commissioned as stand-alone services. This will affect the service which we offer here at LSCft.
New referrals are no longer being accepted and the way in which patients with long COVID access support will change.
This decision was taken by NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) on Wednesday 26 March 2025 due to a significant drop in referrals, and a change to the national funding from 1 April 2025.
Sadly, this affects our colleagues currently working for the service, they have been informed and offered support. A huge thank you goes to each and every one of them who have helped and advised our patients and their fellow colleagues over the past few years.
Future support for people with long COVID
We will be contacting our patients currently accessing the service to advise them on the decision, where to go for support and any plans which have been put in place, based on individual need, to assist them going forward.
Anyone experiencing symptoms of long COVID should now see their GP who will be able to refer them to existing services depending on their clinical needs.
You can access the ICB website for more information.
