Happy International Women’s Day (Saturday 8 March), to all of our colleagues and women in our communities!
From our nurses, doctors, dental workers, pharmacists, health care support workers, admin colleagues, allied health professionals, students, volunteers and support staff, the NHS simply would not function without the hard work and dedication of women each and every day.
International Women’s Day is an annual celebration and opportunity for us to recognise the incredible difference women make to the lives of the people and the communities we serve. So yesterday we celebrated at our International Women’s Day event in Lancashire. 100 colleagues including women from various roles across the Trust, attended the event at ABC War Memorial Hall in Hurst Green, Clitheroe.
They were all invited to join a panel discussion with our Women’s Staff Network and guest speaker, Blackburn based business coach and mentor Wendy Bowers, for a discussion about how far women have progressed in leadership.
Women from around the Trust were able to listen and also discuss themes to inform our Women’s Health Strategy, including menopause, gynaecological issues and mental health support. Our Chief Digital, Infrastructure and Improvement Officer, Abigail Harrison also presented, sharing her own leadership journey and discussing openly her personal experience of the perimenopause.
The topic of women in work and balancing that as mothers and carers was discussed, as well as opportunities for growth and development.
Wendy detailed what she described as her three super powers: the power of thought, the power of gratitude and the power of breathing deeply, before an afternoon of mindfulness activities including, yoga, and wellbeing walks.
We do more for the women we employ, so why not check out our latest vacancies?
