We are an inclusive employer, and we take time to recognise our colleagues’ achievements, so this week we celebrated our international nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs), more than 60 global majority leaders from across our Trust gathered for an end of year conference.

The event was organised by our Professional Development Lead for Inclusion, Shingai Musuka, (bottom row, fourth from the right), and we celebrated the remarkable achievements of leaders who have advanced their careers through apprenticeships, academic pursuits and promotions over the past year.

It recognised the support they receive at the Trust to tackle and overcome barriers and served as a powerful platform to reflect on their hard-earned successes and inspire others on their professional journeys.

The event was designed to motivate and inspire a sense of possibility among attendees for future career development at LSCft. Nurses shared deeply personal and moving stories about overcoming significant challenges on their path to success. Their narratives of transformation, courage, perseverance, resilience, and hope resonated deeply with everyone in attendance.

Each story was testament to the power of determination, highlighting that while the road to success can be fraught with obstacles, these can be overcome with hard work, dedication, and the right mindset. The speakers’ journeys reinforced the message that career development is in reach for all LSCft colleagues.

For those envisioning their own growth, the event underscored that barriers to success are also opportunities for development. The inspiring journeys shared by speakers highlighted that persistence and resilience can turn adversity into achievement.

The day was not only a celebration of accomplishments but also a call to action for colleagues eager to take the next step in their leadership journey. It highlighted that success is achievable at LSCft at any career stage and that we promote racial equity.
