Bev Morgan, 60, is one of our medical secretaries working in our Pennine Home Based Treatment Team in Blackburn. Bev left school at 16 and her mum, who worked at Royal Blackburn Hospital, advised that she should take a vacant medical records job as she would always be in work if she decided to take a job within the NHS.
Bev commenced her working life in 1981 and has spent the majority of her NHS career working at East Lancashire Hospitals Trust but took a two-year break to travel around the Greek islands in 1989.
Bev’s career has seen her work as a clerical officer in medical records, a personal assistant within allied health professions supporting the director of allied health professionals for 22 years.
Bev said:
“43 years later and I’m still employed in the NHS!
In March 2020, due to the Covid Pandemic, I had to work from home. This lasted for 18 months and whilst I could do my job from home, I didn’t enjoy working alone from home. I missed my colleagues and missed attending the workplace.”
Bev continued:
“After the pandemic, I was successful in gaining my current role as a Medical Secretary within the LSCft Home Treatment Team based at Daisy field Mill. I feel like a very valued member of an amazing team and enjoy coming to work. I enjoy working so much that I’ve taken on extra roles including fire warden and wellbeing assistant to our wellbeing champion.
I may plan my retirement at the end of this year!”
