Message to prospective fellows

A very warm welcome to you from the Continuous Improvement Team in Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCft) and thank you for picking this brochure up and taking the time to read it, you are on the first step to becoming an improvement fellow, should the information within inspire you to apply. In LSCft, we aspire to provide outstanding quality of care in collaboration with those who use our services and embrace continuous improvement as a key feature of our learning culture. Improvement is an essential part of all of our roles and we all have a big part to play in LSCft’s improvement journey, whether you are actively hands on delivering change or you are contributing your experience, enthusiasm and support to the improvements in your teams. We have worked in collaboration with Lancaster University and Matthew Syed Consulting to create a development programme that will build upon the skills and experience you have developed so far in improvement and enable you to take it to a much deeper level over the next three years. Lancaster University will provide an academic programme that will provide you with the theory of quality improvement which you will then be supported to bring back into LSCft and put into practice, leading and inspiring change across systems at all levels. This programme provides you the opportunity to obtain a postgraduate certificate in improvement science, alongside influencing and developing staff across our systems, both locally and across healthcare systems.

Kind regards,

Ursula Martin, Chief Strategy and Improvement Officer

Gary Sutton, Assistant Director for Continious Improvement
